Where to Stay in Baguio | Baguio Village Inn

I arrived at Baguio Village Inn just before midnight having taken the 4pm Victory Liner from Manila and even at that hour of the day there was someone on reception. He was very apologetic when he told me the only rooms they had available were at the front of the building on the Magsaysay Road, which can get quite noisy.

Entrance to Baguio Village Inn

I stayed at Baguio Village Inn twice. The second time i arrived earlier at 14.00 and as they had not yet made up the rooms was asked to wait a few minutes while they prepared my room. During my wait the owner introduced himself to me and we had a good chat about life and travel.

I was looking for somewhere with reasonable rates, wifi and close to the centre of Baguio.

1. Budget Friendly

For a single traveller like myself it is important to have a single occupancy option which Baguio Village Inn has at P350. They do have single rooms but also are open to give the single rate to solo travellers in a twin room.

2. Location, Location

Located along Magsaysay Road, Baguio Village Inn is about a 20 minute walk from Session Road and the centre of town.  Bagiuo Market is also on the way, where you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables and other supplies at good prices.

Outside on the road it is also very easy to take a taxi at anytime of day. I was surprised at how easy it was even at 3.00 in the morning. Also many jeepneys pass by if you prefer to use a jeepney.

Reception Area

3. Free wifi

Just ask for the password at reception and you are able to access their wifi free of charge although i found that the signal does weaken the further you move from the reception area.

4.  Clean Inside and Outside

Baguio Village Inn is a clean, orderly and simple place to stay. The rooms are basic and my bed was comfortable. The only thing i missed was an extra blanket as it was quite chilly at night during my stay in February. The decor is mainly from dark wood which gives everywhere that warm feeling.

I liked the various displays around the restaurant area which was also clean and tidy.

5. Courteous and Friendly Staff

I found the staff to be very helpful when i asked them questions about Baguio and gave me good information on how and where to go. Even when i misplaced the key to my room they assisted me to enter my room using their spare key.

6. Shared Bathroom and Communal area

I opted for the shared bathroom to keep my costs down and found them to be very clean with plenty of hot water. I cannot comment on the en suite rooms as i didn’t use one. There is a small communal area for travellers to rest or chat to other travellers.

7. Restaurant

Inside is a small simply decorated restaurant, which serves good food, with both Western and Filipino dishes. Prices are abit on the expensive side compared with eateries close by on Magsaysay Road
