Kitesurfing Bulabog Beach , Boracay
Boracay is mainly known for its pristine 4km long white sand beach which is the main reason over 1,000,000 visitors a year visit the island. But less than 1km away on the other side of the island there is a much different kind of attraction – Kitesurfing.

When the prevailing winds change, the Habagat season begins and Kitesurfers from all over the world descend on this small inlet to take advantage of the on shore winds which can be quite strong at times.

The waters off Bulabog Beach are dirty with seaweed and sewage pipes take the waste of the island out to sea but this doesn’t deter the thrill seekers who speed up and down the kitesurfing lanes making acrobatic jumps and manouvers.
The best time to get down to watch them Kitesurfing Bulabog Beach is mid afternoon. The beach is packed from one end to the other with surfers, watchers, locals going about their daily business and lots of kites laying on the beach ready for use.

Sometimes the wind gets too strong and the surfer loses control of his kite and either crashes into the sea or the kite can even get caught up in one of the coconut palms that line the beach. Luckily the local filipinos are experienced in climbing the coconut palms barefoot and are able to rescue the stray kite.

Kitesurfers, kids on bikes, motorbikes and walkers all mingle to make this beach and Kitesurfing Bulabog Beach an interesting sight to watch.

So if you are on Boracay and want to get away from the thousands of sun worshiping Koreans and Russians, get away from the annoying persistence of the hat sellers then take the 5 minute walk across to the other side of the island to Bulabog Beach and enjoy some kitesurfing and a different kind of people watching.
