I recognised Mt Tagapo and Talim Island from the window of my Cathay Pacific flight as it came into land at Manila airport. This was to be my first adventure in 2015 in the Philippines and to test my fitness for some hiking i had planned. Mt Tagapo seemed like the ideal trek and climb.

I arrived at Baguio Village Inn just before midnight having taken the 4pm Victory Liner from Manila and even at that hour of the day there was someone on reception. He was very apologetic when he told me the only rooms they had available were at the front of the building on the Magsaysay Road, which can get quite noisy.

It’s that magical time of day when the birds return to their nests, when tourists flock to the beach for their sunset poses, children come out to play in the cool evening hours of the day. On my travels around the country and its various islands i have noticed a big difference in the type of sunset.

Taytay Boni, is a stone bridge built in 1854. Taytay Boni lies just off the Miagao – Guimbal road on the junction to Bgy.Guibongan. It took its name from the Illongo word, Taytay, meaning bridge and Boni taken from the name of its Spanish construction foreman Bonifacio Neular.
